Little or no Sleep

I am sure all of you moms know what I am talking about. This week Aaron came down with a nasty cold with a high fever. He has a double ear infection and he feels horrible. Well I have had very little chance to sleep these last few nights. Luckily, tonight Eric can help out more since he doesn't have class in the morning. I don't know how I have as much energy as I do since I haven't been sleeping. I think it is a gift mothers get. I can honestly say that I have seen every hour on the clock for the past 60+ hours. Aaron would only let me sneak in 15 to 20 minute cat naps at night before he would start crying again. The poor kid is so tired but is in pain. I took him to the doctor yesterday so hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon so I can have a better night. I now have some idea what some of you moms go through when you have more than one sick kid at a time. I am not looking forward to those long nights. Luckily (knock on wood) I haven't gotten sick yet. There is a nasty flu going around and Eric caught something awful earlier this week. My poor boys! I am just grateful that even though I haven't had much sleep, I still have my health. We will see how long that lasts. :)

7 Months and scooting

Meal time: Aaron always rubs his nose or his eyes while I am trying to feed him. Sometimes his hand touches the food on the spoon when I am trying to put it in his mouth and then he rubs it all over his face.

Aaron just started scooting this past week. It is fun seeing him figure it out. I know in a couple of weeks it won't be so cute anymore because he will be getting into everything.

Aaron is getting better and better at sitting up but he still falls over after 15 seconds or so.

Moms need to get out of the house too

I know it has been awhile since I last post, but being couped up in a tiny apartment all day every day isn't that exciting. Don't get me wrong. I love being a stay at home mom with Aaron. I love that kid so much that I don't mind spending all my time with him. It is just hard when I don't have anywhere to go and I find that I have been in my apartment for days without going farther than the laundry room on the other side of the dorm. Luckily, yesterday was a nice enough day that I was able to load Aaron into the stroller and take a walk around campus. We just went to the bookstore to sneak a peek at Kirby Heyborne (the blond kid in the movies like R.M. and Singles Ward) He was in town for a concert. Apparently he plays music too. Then we went to the library to say a quick hello to Eric while he was working in the Math Lab. Then Aaron and I headed back home because it was time for his nap. I know that there are a lot of things to do on campus that are really cheap but Eric is so busy with school and tutoring that it is hard to go out with him.
Last weekend we did get to take a trip to SLC to visit my parents and my little sister. It was nice to just go and visit. We haven't done that in awhile without having to go to a wedding or a funeral. The drive was so nice because it was only 3.5 hours as opposed to the 6 from Vegas. We had a relaxing and uneventful stay. It was fun. Sorry I didn't take any pictures. I forgot the camera at home.
I actually haven't taken any pictures or videos lately. I know I should because Aaron is learning to scoot forward and it is so fun to see him try to work for a toy. I will take a video soon so you all can see.
The hard part with Aaron now is getting him to eat. He doesn't like anything but plain rice cereal and mashed green beens. Anything else I try to give him he refuses to eat. He likes green beans because that was the first vegetable I introduced to him. I tried giving him peas and he ate it a couple of times and then one day threw up after eating some. Now he doesn't like them. I have tried all sorts of fruits and he doesn't like any of them either. I don't know what to do because he is a picky eater. At first I would force feed him by slipping food in his mouth while he would cry. He learned very quickly that he can't open his mouth or "Mom will make me eat that nasty stuff." I really don't know where to go from here. He is even getting more difficult to nurse. He doesn't seem that interested in my milk anymore. If any of you have ideas or suggestions of what else to try let me know. I really have no idea what I am doing and this isn't easy.
Sorry this was more of a vent blog. I know I that I am so blessed to be where I am and to have the opportunity to stay home with Aaron, but I need to figure out how to balance Aaron's needs with my own needs.

Rexburg Idaho Temple

Today we had to opportunity to attend the temple dedication of the Rexburg Temple. I am really excited to have this temple literally a block a way from where I live. I hope that I will be better about going to the temple often since there really are no more excuses. The temple dedication was really nice. There were a few sessions. President Monson was at a couple of the sessions but he was not present at the session I went to. I was a little disappointed but Elder Bednar and Elder Nelson did a great job.
The dedication was scheduled to be last weekend but due to the passing of President Hinckley it was postponed a week.


I love how this temple is on top of a hill so you can see it from anywhere in the valley. At night it really glows and looks very beautiful.

Learning all sorts of stuff

I figured it has been awhile since I have posted new pictures of Aaron. So here are some pictures of the cute little guy. A few weeks ago we started Aaron on solids. We started out slow with rice cereal and now we are introducing fruits and vegtables slowly. We took some pictures of his first experience with rice cereal.

"Whoa, mom, what are you putting in my mouth?"

"I don't know about this. It is different."

"I think I might like eating like this."

This little guy is always happy and smiling. We love playing with him and he loves playing with his toys.
These are a couple of pictures we took on his 6 month birthday.


Aaron is learning how to move around a lot. He flips from his back to his stomach and then to his back again. He is just rolling around the apartment to get around. He can sit up but not longer than 30 seconds before he reaches for something and he falls over. He is doing push ups. When he is on his stomach he get up on his hands and feet. He isn't quite scooting or crawling yet but we can tell it is not far away.

Record breaking winter

I know in every post I tell you how cold it is here. Well the snow is crazy. It just keeps coming and coming. We have 3 or 4 feet of snow piled up. There have been a few nights where we have been snowed in. All the roads out of Rexburg have been closed so we couldn't go anywhere even if we wanted to. I lived in Rexburg for three years when I was going to school and I have never seen it this bad. Even people who have lived here for a really long time have never seen it this bad. I haven't really had the guts to go out an play in the snow yet. I am scared of it being too cold. Last night before I was about to go to bed I could hear some kids screaming. I looked out my window and I saw a bunch of girls and guys jumping off the second story balcony into the snow. Luckily no one got hurt. Since I am the "responsible" one in the dorm, I had to tell them to stop because I didn't want anyone to get hurt. These kids were easily jumping into waist deep snow.


I sure do miss Las Vegas winters. :(
