Jobs around the house

Aaron is learning to help out around the apartment. There are a few jobs that he does. It is his job to pick up all the dirty diapers around the apartment and throw them away. He loves doing this because we always cheer for him every time he throws a diaper away.
This week we taught him where the laundry goes so when there are clothes on the floor he can pick them up and put them in the laundry basket. We cheer for that too.
We are still working on picking up his toys but he has done it a few times when we make is another game of cheering.

Lately he has been getting into the broom closet and pulling out the broom and mop. That would be fine if he knew how to use them. He has also been playing with the vacuum and all of it's attatchments. Well today he found something else in the broom closet. I actually don't have a problem with him playing with this.

Our carpet shows every little speck of dust. We try to vacuum every day but that still isn't enough. My floor looks a lot better this morning since Aaron has been playing with the carpet sweeper. This can be his new job. :)

Happy Birthday to me!

Last week I turned 27! I feel so old. My birthday wasn't too exciting. I had a managers training that I was at for most of the day and Eric was in school and work all day so it was pretty boring. My birthday didn't really get to start until 6pm. I wish we could have done something exciting but what can you do with a 2 week old baby? We all went out to dinner at Gringo's. Aaron loves that place because they give you chips. It was fun having a birthday dinner with my little family. Then we came home and had ice cream cake and opened presents. Then we played with my present after we put the kids to bed.

There were so many candles that my ice cream cake almost melted.
I consider Kaylee an early birthday present.

We are now proud owners of "Wii." I have only played Wii once before and I liked it. I am hoping that the Wii fit will help me lose all the weight I gained from having babies.
I also used the birthday money I received from family to buy a double stroller so I can go on walks with both my kids without going crazy. When the weather is nice I like to take the opportunity to get out of the house and go on a walk. So the double stroller is really for me more than it is for the kids.

No time to blog

I am amazed I finally found time to blog. I have Aaron in his crib watching Elmo. He was in a pretty bad mood before so I thought I would let him have some quiet time. Kaylee is sleeping in the swing. I got a few things done for my job and now I actually have time to sit down and give you all an update with how we are doing.
It has been pretty crazy around here with two kids. I am still trying to figure out how to keep two kids happy. Some days I have been successful and others not so much. I love those moments when I have two kids crying and it makes me want to cry too. (sense the sarcasim) However, I have been pretty lucky so far to usually have two happy or sleeping kids.
I have been stressed out a lot trying to figure out how to balance my two kids with my job at the dorm, cooking, and cleaning. I'll admit my apartment is never completely clean but at least parts of it get picked up and cleaned each day. The hardest part of all is remembering to take care of myself. I still shower before Eric leaves for the day but sometimes it will be 4 pm before my hair gets done. Most days it is pulled up into a bun or a pony tail. I have had some days where I didn't have anytime to eat breakfast or lunch and it will be dinner time before I realize that I am really hungry. I know that isn't good since I am nursing. I have even put off going to the bathroom so I could take care of my kids. This has definitely been an adjustment but I am slowly working hard to get things done.
Anyway, thats my excuse for not blogging for awhile.

Aaron has been having to adjust to a new baby too. Overall, he loves his baby sister and whenever she cries he wants to go help her. He loves helping her get her binky in her mouth. There have been times when he has tried to pick her up all by himself or even take her from me. When I am nursing her I try to keep covered with a blanket and he just thinks that the baby is playing "peek a boo" with him so he will grab the blanket to play with her. It is cute but he can be a little rough with her (as big brothers will be).
He is a good big brother and it is fun when he pays some attention to her.

Aaron loves to climb into her bassinet and play. It is amazing how much this kid has grown since he was a little baby.
Here is Kaylee at 3 1/2 weeks old. Isn't she pretty?
I love watching Aaron play with his sister.
