So at the beginning of the year I made resolution to lose 20-25lbs. I have had this extra weight ever since I was pregnant with Aaron and have never been able to loose it. Well, I will admit that in January I didn't do much to lose the weight. In fact Eric and I got into this really bad habit of eating ice cream at around 10pm everynight. So, of course, I gained about 5lbs. Oops! Well we put an end to the ice cream and on Feb. 2nd I joined a gym.
I have now been motivated to lose this weight so I have been getting up at 6:15am every morning and working out. I go 5 times a week. Three times a week I have been jogging 2 miles or more and two times a week I lift weights. Then twice a week I walk about 1.5 miles round trip to the park. After not seeing any results after working out for 3 weeks I decided to join weight watchers to help me keep track of what I am eating. I have been on weight watchers for a week and a half now. I have done pretty good for the most part but it is so hard when I am home all day and have access to my kitchen all day.
Since I started working out I would weigh myself on the Wii fit board every morning. According to the Wii I have maybe only lost about1.3lbs in since I started to work out a month ago. The graph from this last month is all over the place. Does that just sound wrong to anyone else? I really don't know what I am doing so wrong. I thought I would have at least lost the weight I gained in January by now.
I am also so frustrated with Aaron and bed time. When we put him into a big bed out of his crib when he turned 2 he did great for the first 2 months. He would go to sleep when we put him down and he would wait for us to come get him. Then he discovered that he could actually get out of bed himself. After a long struggle with that we resorted to locking his door and letting him cry it out. Eventually he went back to bed or fell asleep by the door. Now he is tall enough to turn on his lights. So as soon as we put him to bed and lock his door he is right out of bed and turns on his lights so he can play with his toys. We have constantly gone in there and put him back in bed. He even tells me what I am going to say. "No lights, stay in bed." Then within seconds of me leaving his room he is back out of bed with the lights on. We tried just ignoring it as long as he is quiet. Well he was up until 11:30pm last night. Then he was up again at 1:30am with the lights on and then ready to get up for the day at 6:00am. My baby sleeps better through the night than he does. It is driving me crazy. I don't know how to keep him from turning on the lights. We have put a night light in his room so that he could still see in his room but that did nothing. I just don't know what else to do but it makes it impossible for me to wind down for the day when I am putting my toddler to bed all night long. Any suggestions?
Sorry if this is a complete blog of complaining but I need answers to these problems and I don't have them. Ahhh!

I know it's frustrating to not see results right away-but if you truly stick with weight watchers and track everything--it totally works. My husband and I both lost weight with it. It wasn't quick-and some weeks wouldn't show any results and others would. But slowly the weight came off. Good luck-you can do it!
Weight loss is frustrating because it can sometimes take a few months to see significant results. Hang in there and focus on the positives that working out has brought you in the mean time, like maybe more energy or more defined arms. The results will come!
As for the bedtime fun, Aubree used to do the same thing. That was when we did away with her daily naps so she was tired enough at bedtime(does Aaron still nap?). Then we did her bedtime routine, turned off the lights (she did have a nightlight) and sat in there with her until she fell asleep. Then we started leaving a little earlier each night until she stayed in bed on her own and went to sleep. It took a while to get to that point (over a year), but it's what worked for us. I preferred it to hours-long struggles at night. I hope you can find something that works for you!
wow--the sleep thing sounds like the story of my life with Ryan. Lucky for us, his light is also a fan so we just yank the chain when putting him to bed so he can't turn it on by himself. Also, as much as I enjoyed nap time everyday, I now only let him sleep for an hour--I wake him up by 2pm and he is a little cranky but it helps. (he was waking up by 4:30am ready for the day to start--someone shoot me!) The decreased naps has helped a ton! Also, a warm bath, story and prayer routine lets him know it is time to wind down. I also decluttered all the toys and took most of them out of his room so he doesn't have much to choose from. We let him pick ONE to sleep with and he'll lay in bed playing with it but it usually keeps him in bed long enough to get drowsy and dose off instead of getting up to get toys. It isn't fool proof--we still have rough nights but if he is tired enough, he usually doesn't fight much. Good luck--each kid is different and believe me, I KNOW how frustrating this is. Maybe you just need to unscrew the light bulb?? play a little prevent defense :)
oh, forgot to mention--the Super Nanny had some great methods that my cousin used with a kid who wouldn't stay in bed--they swear by it. Maybe you can google it?
Lily did the same thing! We were so frustrated with her. We finally taped her light switch down and put a torche lamp in her room (she can't twist the knob yet). We had to leave it that way for about 4 months, but it worked and now we can use the light switch again!
I like the unscrewing the light bulb idea!
Ooh the lights problem, that is tough. I don't know what to tell you to do. I guess unscrewing the light bulbs could be the trick!
Also, about your weight, way to go this last month, that is awesome. That is dedication to go to the gym so early and 5 days a week, congrats. First off, 90% of weight loss comes from what you eat, so I would pay attention to the food you are eating. Secondly, remember that muscle weighs more than fat. It is possible you are losing fat, but gaining muscle and so the results are not showing as fast as you want on the scale. Does your body look or feel better? I got the Biggest Loser Work out DVD's for Christmas and they guarantee results in 8 weeks. They are super tough, but are amazing work outs. You may consider buying these and doing them for 50 minutes while your kids are napping?
We are having trouble with our 2 year old at bedtime, too. And our 5 year old. They get up 50 times a night for water, to go potty, for one more kiss (how do you say no to that?!), etc. Ashton cries every time I put him back to bed saying, "I want you, mama!". It sure is trying!! Will he stay in bed once the light is off? If so, I'd say unscrew it. But he may just find another way to occupy his time. This whole raising kids stuff, yeah.. no one told me about these parts!!!
As for the weight, I just know how to gain. If it only came off as fast as it went on!!
Good luck and hugs! Just think, someday we'll miss this.
I know its hard losing weight but it takes about 6-8 weeks to actually see results. Have you measured your waist, hips, arms, etc? Usually you see faster results with that than weight since weight varies from day to day.
With Aaron's situation. Does he stand on his bed to reach the light? If he does, can you rearrange his room so his bed is not next to the ligth switch? Or maybe you can have some kind of a reward system. Every time he stays in bed he gets a quarter or a sticker in the morning and that adds up to a bigger prize. Good luck!!! Keep up the exercising!!!
